Unemployment is when a worker is out of work, and is actively seeking work. Their are many types of unemployment: Real Wage Unemployment, Frictional Unemployment, Cyclical Unemployment, Geographical Unemployment, and Structural Unemployment. These theories of unemployment tend to overlap each other, but are used by economist to distinguish problems in the economy that may be causing a rise in unemployment, and can take proper steps towards creating solutions.
